Rob Merchant, a former Treasury Department Agent, and Nora Silver, a former Police Chief, meet when Rob inherits the land on a mountainside where Nora is living. Rob and Nora explore the history of the property, discover treasures of all descriptions, and change the lives of others, as the story develops. The "Merchant's Mine" series of novels is set in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee/Western North Carolina. Most of the story told by the series happens in the present day, parts of it also happen in the Civil War era, but the roots date back as old as the Nation itself. The story includes elements of Mystery, Romance, and Historical Fiction.

“Merchant’s Mine,” introduces characters, sets the stage, and opens the doors on mysteries dating back to the American Civil War and the American Revolutionary War. It’s set in the present day, but Nora Silver has found a chronicle by a man long dead, which frames the beginning of an adventure that just keeps developing.

Author’s Note: This “Book 1” is planned to soon become “Book 2,” because “Bloodline” (Book 5) is moving to the “Book 1” position. When that happens, the prologue of “Merchant’s Mine” will be removed from the book, to enable the end of “Bloodline” to smoothly transition to the beginning of “Merchant’s Mine.” Similar changes, for the same reason, are planned for the other books in the series.
